Curriculum
Gatherhouse is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach which views children are curious and capable learners who express their ideas through play. Rather than following a one-size-fits-all curriculum, our teachers observe children closely, listen to their questions and interests, and use those observations to guide learning experiences.
Learning is documented and shared with families through weekly communication, along with an updated portfolio that captures each child’s growth and learning through photographs, work samples, and meaningful moments throughout the year.
Our goal is not simply to prepare children for kindergarten, but to nurture confident, capable, compassionate learners who are excited to ask questions, try new things, and discover how they fit into their community.

This poem is written by Loris Malaguzzi and is the center of the Reggio Emilia Approach. The “Hundred Languages” refers to the countless ways children communicate and learn through words, art, movement, music, dramatic play, building, nature, relationships, and so much more.
