Meet the Owner

Hi, my name is Kaitlyn Whisnant, founder of Gatherhouse. I am a Charlotte native and a Mountaineer at heart. I received my Bachelor’s degrees in Child and Family Studies and Religious Studies from Appalachian State University in 2023 and my Master of Education degree in Leadership, Policy, and Advocacy in Early Education from the University of North Carolina Wilmington in 2026.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of walking alongside children and families in a variety of roles, including nanny, Sunday school teacher, Nursery Director, Camp Director, and early childhood educator. Through every season and every role, one thing has remained constant: my desire to love children and their families well.

I believe that parents and caregivers are a child’s first and most important teachers, and that children thrive when they are surrounded by loving, supportive relationships. It is a privilege to partner with families as they nurture their children’s growth, curiosity, and development.

Gatherhouse was born from this belief and passion. I envisioned a place where children can learn through wonder, creativity, and meaningful play, while parents and caregivers find connection, encouragement, and community. My hope is that every person who walks through our doors feels seen, welcomed, and at home.
